Cullen packs up tools after shaping and packing a new jump.

Austin Ridge Riders is having a busy November! Things got kicked off with the Little Walnut Creek Greenbelt cleanup on November 5th, and on the 26th they will host their annual “Cranksgiving” fundraising event at Reimers Ranch. On Sunday the 13th, a few dozen volunteers came out on a very chilly morning to build an entirely new feature at the end of the BMX loop. The crew was led by Cullen McMorrow, ARR Trail Coordinator.

Back in April, there was a work day to build a log tabletop just before this new dig spot. The new feature would be a tabletop jump into a long swooping s-berm with a roller in the middle. Together these two features add a lot of fun to what was a mundane section of trail, and have the bonus of controlling erosion through the area.

The tabletop that was built in April got a touch up , the lip is now buttery smooth and you do not need to work to catch the landing. Just to the right of this feature we built a small drainage swale to channel water off the trail before it can wash out the riding surface.

The total build time was only a few hours, but the amount of work that got done was astonishing.

You can join the Austin Ridge Riders Meetup group to get email alerts for future trail work days; however, work days may sometimes be posted within 24 hours of the work date and so you should follow the ARR Facebook page as well.
