XC Racing
Cross Country (XC) is the most popular form of MTB racing as well as the least extreme Singletrack racing experience. Traditionally a test of fitness, XC racing is becoming increasingly technical with drops and rock gardens designed into courses.
Enduro Racing
Enduro racing is a grueling, often multi-day event with numerous timed “stages” which are then added together for a total race time. Between each stage is a “transit” that involves pedaling or a lift/shuttle. These transits are not timed, but often have a time limit. Exceeding the limit will usually earn an overall time penalty.
DH Racing
Downhill (DH) Racing has a few key differences from Enduro racing; notably, a more purpose-built bike that is inefficient pedaling uphill. Additionally, A DH race typically consists of only one downhill run, vs multiple timed stages. While an Enduro event can last hours or span days, A downhill run is over in minutes.
