March Recap
Tejano Trails
A ‘Museum of Dirt’ as my friend Julian put it. I cannot imagine the amount of effort that went into sculpting this place in northeast Austin. I did not bring a bike - I just went to hang out with my buddies assuming that there was nothing for me here with my full suspension - but there is a pump track that is actually fairly well suited to one. It was crazy watching Julian send the big jumps! Marcus progressed to hip jumps with a gap and my friend Cullen got his first one-footer! All of this action is in Ride Reels for this month.
Milburn Park Grand Re-Opening
Cedar Park Parks and Recreation hired KOM Trails to re-work Milburn Park with a little input from Austin Ridge Riders. Job well done! The concrete transitions will stand up to repeated riding and weather, and the elevated roll in helps with speed. The run starts with a big pump roller just before three matching tabletops with concrete transitions and good spacing. You then have a huge berm with a wood plank wall ride above, then finally a step-up with a concrete transition. It all works very well, and you can just ride up and start lapping!
Cullen MC’s Birthday Jam
Party at the Pump Track! It was a riot! We celebrated Cullen MC’s birthday and there were a ton of people. Cullen hardly did any riding and spent his birthday jam working hard watering and brooming the dirt. I also rode a few dirt jumpers and I can see myself getting one in the future. It’s just too much work hustling the big bike around a pump track.
Spider Mountain DH1
32 out of 47 for my second race at Spider Mountain Bike Park. The trail was dusty and loose, but I improved 11 seconds over the race in December and did not crash!

The Ageless Mountain Biker
My friend Greg Stevens has created a new project called The Ageless Mountain Biker. TAMB is a podcast chronicling Greg’s adventures in mountain biking, racing, training and how to keep and increase the stoke as you get older.
Episode 1 features none other than Brian Kennedy of BKXC fame! Check it out!
A Trail Builder Wakes From Hibernation
Mark Matthews knocks it out of the park with his follow up to Trail Builders Vs Trail Poachers.
Crank N Drank
Crank-N-Drank on a Thursday? What in the world? Due to weather, we wound up doing two Thursday rides this month. There were actually five rides total, but I missed one to be at Walnut Creek for Cullen’s birthday. I was a big fan of the March 10 edition - our group hit an average 10.5 MPH that evening! It looks like from this point forward we should not need lights until the last few minutes of the ride, and even that might not be necessary.
MTBATX Merch is available now (with free shipping)!
‘The Formula’ Graphic Tee is an instant hit, and these holographic stickers look awesome! This merch is how I intend to cover the cost of building this website, bringing you content (think camera gear, etc), and also how I will fund some of my trail building activity in select locations in Central Texas. Current projects involve South Austin Trail Newtwork.
