Trailforks Tutorials

Austin has multiple resources for determining trail conditions before you ride, but unfortunately they are not all synchronized and some depend on social media platforms to view. Trailforks is a solution that everyone can access and allows for more accurate and up to date information. The reporting and conditions widgets can be embedded on most websites making it possible for anyone to contribute to the same reporting platform.

Please note: Trailforks Pro is not required to submit or view reports. You can access this feature with a free account on both the website and the app. You will pick a free area on the app that will be enough to cover most of the trails in Austin. Click here for details.

Pro Tip: Connect Strava to Trailforks to automatically copy your ridelog to Trailforks making it easy to submit reports after your ride.

Submitting a Report

Sumbitting a trail report will update the status and conditions of the trail and can be done for your entire ride. If you have been added as an official “trail reporter” you will be able to submit bulk trail reports.

Submitting Bulk Trail Reports

Official Trail Reporters will have the ability to submit bulk trail reports for an entire trail network, although a good practice may be only to submit bulk reports for the most popular trails in the network and leave minor connectors unreported. Austin Ridge Riders maintains the official trail reporting group for the central Texas area.

Subscribing to a Trail

If you are an official reporter, maintainer, builder, or sponsor you may wish to receive email alerts when trail reports are submitted. To do this, you will subscribe to the trail at the bottom of the trail page. You can customize the type of alerts you wish to receive.

If you are the steward of a trail network, you can choose to receive alerts for the entire region.
