Meet at Main Pool Parking Lot at Walnut Creek Metropolitan Park.
As you know, a lot of tree branches are down due to the ice storm; the rain will also allow for dirt work.
IF YOU HAVE A HANDSAW, please bring it. Particularly a pole saw.
PLEASE BRING AND WEAR A HELMET AND EYE PROTECTION while we are doing tree stuff. There is a risk of a falling branch hitting someone in the head—be very aware of what other trail volunteers are doing. A bike helmet or hard hat style.
Unfortunately, City of Austin has **not** authorized volunteers to use chainsaws (or power tools of any type). So we will have handsaws. You are welcome to bring your own handsaw as well (and please LMK if you are, to help with tool planning).
The Austin Ridge Riders is YOUR local not-for-profit Mountain Bike Club. ARR builds and maintains the trails we all enjoy.
The vision for Walnut trail work is a combination of routine maintenance stuff (lopping face slappers, fixing erosion/drainage issues, etc.) as well as ADDING FLOW & FUN (berms, rollers, log features) while continuing to recognize the trails' multi-use status (hikers, runners, dogs, etc.).
We will be providing tools and some gloves (but bring your own gloves if you have them).
If you are a TMBRA racer, this is Pay Dirt eligible.
