Crank ‘N Drank

South Austin Trail Network

Every Tuesday - 6PM

< Back to Recurring Rides

Crank ‘N Drank is a South Austin Trail Network Tuesday evening tradition.

Wheels down at 6pm. Typically, there are four groups of varying speed. Pick a group you think you can hang with, and if it turns out they are too quick, fall back to the next slowest group; however, this IS a drop ride and riders are expected to be self sufficient. Each ride averages about fifteen miles and includes all different types of terrain, from smooth and flowy, to rock gardens from hell.

There is a BYOB chill out after the ride. Bring a cooler, your favorite brew, a chair, and some money for Dominoes, Tacodeli, or TCBY.

IF TRAIL CONDITIONS ARE POOR, THE RIDE WILL BE GRAVEL AND ROAD.

Sep 24th route notes courtesy of Greg K:

Start with "Front Door" and hang a RIGHT onto "Javier's."  Once at the Escarpment spillway, cross to the south side and climb out to the Escarpment sidewalk, take the sidewalk all the way to "Swim School."  "Swim School" east to "Firehouse" and do "Thumbs Up" counterclockwise before climbing up to the Escarpment/45 intersection.  Cross 45 and take "Median Well" westbound to Grey Rock.  Once at the golf cart road, climb up the south/westHwy 45 bridge tower (don't take "Stroller Roller") and ride west on the grass shoulder to the main entrance into the golf course.  Take the original "Golf Course" trail into Meridian, then do "Dam Straight" before heading north along the east side of Bear Lake towards the Elementary School.  After looping around the north end of the lake, climb to the start of "4 Jumps and 2 Drops Dude" before taking "Bear Lake Jeep Track" out into Avana.  Once on Bernia Drive, go straight to "Avana Connector" northbound (skip "Heaven's Gate").  At Hwy 45 after "Avana Connector," drop into "45 Flow" to "South Bay Strait Loop ccw" before cutting over at Danz Creek and doing ALL of "Biggest House Fire" north back to shop.

Meet behind ATX Bikes. Please do not park behind Domino’s Pizza, or in front of Austin Diagnostic Clinic!
